Thank you to the team for this incredible work. Sobering, affirming, and illuminating with historic context. I wish that I could get this to people I know who seem to be swept away by the contagion of disinformation that rationalizes this psychotic violence. Since the Oklahoma City terror attack it has been known that the greatest threat to public safety in the United States is organized white supremacist extremism. Yet, law enforcement largely stands down, even leaving “their own” to be swallowed by belligerent armed mobs of self named “patriots.” Smdh.

I gave three because you have a decent cast, the real complaint on my side, is that you are very one sided on militias. I do not agree with what some did at the capital, but toUltimately label all militias in this way is just wrong. Not all are far right extremists. Militias, and the thought of them, helped us in the attacks during WW2.

A great look into how and why all of this happened and how it got started. The shameful thing is, those at the top won’t get punished for their part in it. Thanks for the work you did in the making of this podcast,

I am super impressed with this program and the truly thoughtful approach. The ranging analysis and perspectives do a wonderful job of presenting this event in broad strokes and so specifically. Also, I respectfully disagree about the criticism on the audio - I felt like it was engineered with stunning precision and had planned on writing this (my first actual review of a podcast in 8-8 years of listening to them) because of how great each of the creative elements were insofar as shaping the whole. Beautiful job, truly!

A great podcast which delves into many side topics but it all ties in together. My only critiques- Like others have pointed out, bullhorn lady is not a victim. Second- highlighting Deepstate Dogs and only giving a passing mention to other accounts that greatly contributed to the IDing of insurrection participants is dissapointing. And not even mentioning @Homegrownterrorists is especially dissapointing. But apart from that, great podcast!!

I ended up binging the entire 8-episode series in one day. I couldn’t put it down!

Helped me to understand how so many people all fell for the greatest con in history. All for a guy who’s bruised ego, couldn’t allow him to accept that he lost, shame.

This wasn’t an “insurrection”. No one has been charged with that. It was wrong, yes. But a coup” or “insurrection”? Drop the hyperbole.

As with all of Robert Evans work, this is a thoroughly documented and well- researched piece of work. I could have done with a cleaner production, less music in particular, but this is a minor point. Listen, learn, and get very worried about the near future.

I played the first season and had to run it right back again… January 6th was a waking point for me as a black man in America, I realized that we are still hated the same as it’s always been, and here we go again with voter intimidation and changing of the laws to make it harder for us to vote per usual…. Even with his left leaning bent, Robert Evans proves once again what an incredibly well researched story can produce. True patriots don’t try to overturn an election just because the guy they like lost.

It is so sad that a significant portion of our country is afraid of - or allergic to - the truth.This is an amazing podcast that looks at specific actions and actors -facts aren’t opinion. It’s funny that these people, who have fallen prey to some of the most dangerous propaganda unleashed on America, who listen to and watch obviously altered video and dishonest right wing ideologues who do no research and have nothing BUT opinions, don’t have the capacity to think rationally at all.The nonsense that they cling to may be a sign of an epidemic of mental illness - or an education system that the GOP has been dismantling for decades. It’s chilling. This podcast is hosted and researched by a journalist who knows how to separate fact from absurd fiction. If that’s your jam, you will get this. Sadly, those who should will not.

I will listen to anything and everything Robert records, his writing is beautiful. Succinct, clear and astounding reporting on a complex nuanced topic.

The people rating one star have either clearly not listened to the podcast, as the podcast is littered with interviews of people close to the subjects of each episode and is heavily backed by their own recordings and words from that day. Yes, we’re polarized and this clearly is critical of the right, but ask yourself… what person in the Democratic Party has called for an open overthrow of the government? Not a one. There is one side engaged in schadenfreude as a means of political advancement, to the detriment of the very country they claim patriotism over. If you’re aligning with those people, do yourself a favor, read the constitution and recognize where you fall because none of us want the dissolution of the country for the advancement of our ideals. That’s on you and you need to recognize your complicity, with an open mind, and maybe stop imposing your will accepting that others do t agree with you and that disagreement is a natural outcome in democracy, and that’s ok. We don’t have to agree, but we do need to be civil when we don’t get what we want, regardless of your emotions about it.

Regardless of your political standpoint, this is definitely worth a listen. Very well researched, and presented professionally.

President Trump offered 10,000 national guard, Pelosi rejected his offer. Ask yourself what pelosi was doing on the 4th, 5th and 6th. President Trump called for peace while the left invites chaos.

I’ve listened to a lot of Robert Evan’s shows, but I think this is the best one. Incredibly well researched as always. I especially love that he allows others to share their own experiences with Jan 6 and associated things.

This podcast filled in a lot of blanks for me and answered questions I hadn’t considered asking. The bigger picture behind why this happened is much clearer now, but there is more to learn. Excellent quality investigative journalism. Highly recommend.

Wow! This is a stellar recap of what ppl who were following the chatter were hearing and knew at the time and why we were freaked out about where things were headed. I may have some very VERY minor “well actually…” type disagreements with some details, but this is overall EXCELLENT reporting and truth telling. Highly recommended!

It seems that being anti-far right extremism makes you a hack worthy of one star. Anyway… Less heavy on the particulars of the day, this series features interviews with police officers who were there, the family of those in attendance, and countless others. The background leading up to the 6th and follow up to the event are focused on. Historical parallels are made, and journalistic integrity tackled. I am a Robert Evans fan, but also see the flaws and bias in some of his other projects. This may be his best. Really. Engaging and informative. Worth putting up with every commercial break.

This is a necessary deep dive into the targeted and coordinated misinformation campaign that led to the January 6th riot. The reporters are knowledgeable and fair in their assessments. They use actual recordings and posts from the actual people. This is real and this is true.
